IT'S the helmet camera that recorded some of the last moments of Rebecca Ware's young life.
Lost somewhere on the slopes of Whistler, Canada, the camera has become the subject of a viral internet campaign.
A popular Mackay woman, Rebecca, 23, died from complications relating to leukaemia less than a week after being diagnosed upon her return from Canada.
Her boyfriend Matt Lorraway has spearheaded the campaign to find the camera.
Rebecca's sister Kirsty Skaines said Mr Lorraway was doing anything he could to get the footage from his and Rebecca's last holiday together.
"He's desperate for it back," Mrs Skaines said.
It is believed the camera is hidden under mountains of snow, and was lost after it fell off Mr Lorraway's helmet.
Mrs Skaines said it was hoped the camera would be recovered as the snow began to melt on the mountain.
"They've had a huge snowfall so they're hopeful once it melts they'll find it," she said.
Mrs Skaines said a Facebook post by Mr Lorraway's friend Amy McArthur about the lost camera had gone viral, and attracted the attention of the Canadian press.
While she acknowledged not much could be done in Australia, Mrs Skaines urged anyone with ties to Canada, especially the Whistler region, to spread the word.
"That was their memories of their last trip together," she said.
"She really enjoyed it."
Mrs Skaines said they were hopeful that even if the camera couldn't be recovered, the SD card would be.
The helmet cam is a GoPro touch screen with a Monster Energy sticker.
