Samurai sword drawn in street altercation
A SAMURAI sword has been produced in an altercation between two parties at Moore Park Beach.
Emergency crews responded to numerous 000 calls after reports up to eight people were involved in the altercation in Monarch Ave Thursday afternoon.
Plain-clothes Senior Constable Ben Whell said police were still trying to piece together who was involved and what the altercation was about.
"We know an altercation occurred and that's about it," he said.
"No one's been arrested at this point but we are speaking to the other party."
A samurai sword could be seen sticking out of the grass in front of one address while at a second address a man was treated by paramedics.
A couple who live in the street said it appeared whatever sparked Thursday's altercation began on Wednesday night when they witnessed an assault involving two men.
"Some bloke pulled up in a four-wheel drive, pulled up and started smacking the young fella with the split eye," the woman said.
Then Thursday afternoon, the couple said, the occupants of one house walked to the second address.
"We seen them go for a walk up the street and then drama and then all the police were there - bit of excitement for the day," the man said.
