Team NZ lost race eight of the America’s Cup

SAILING: Team New Zealand lost race eight of the America's Cup in San Francisco Bay yesterday morning, but it could have been so much worse.

The Kiwi boat went within centimetres of capsizing, Oracle Team USA going on to win its second race of the first-to-nine series.

The result left the Kiwis on six points, with Oracle now on zero (it was penalised two points for illegalities in a lead-up regatta).

Team New Zealand quickly put the drama aside to take the lead in race nine, but heavy winds saw officials call a halt to proceedings.

Races nine and 10 will be held this morning.
