Rogers over and out as Aussies celebrate Ashes success

THE Ashes celebrations appear to have taken their toll on veteran Aussie opener Chris Rogers.

After two days of partying, the oldest member of the side, at 36, missed taking the stage during the public reception attended by Prime Minister Tony Abbott at the Sydney Opera House yesterday.

"I slept in. We will leave it at that," Rogers said when he finally turned up.

"These moments don't come along too often, if ever. To do it (win the Ashes) at my age is unbelievable and it's the best thing that's happened in my career. I didn't think that was going to happen and I have just enjoyed it. Probably a bit too much."

While there was no lack of cheering for Michael Clarke's men, there were also plenty of boos when the man of the series, left-arm paceman Mitchell Johnson, announced he was going to shave off his moustache.
