It came after witnesses reported wild scenes on Sunshine Coast roads on Wednesday afternoon as police tracked an orange Holden Colorado along Maroochydore Rd and in the Mons Rd area.

Supt Johnson said the four-wheel-drive was found dumped at Diamond Valley late on Wednesday night.

He said the roadblocks were sparked by a sighting of the man in the Diamond Valley area.

About 12 police crews remained in the area on Thursday evening.

Despite their efforts, police were yet to locate the man.
