Rivers of art
The Northern Rivers has a most beautiful and diverse environment. This environment survives despite pressure from developers and their friends in government.
The other thing about the Northern Rivers is the depth of creative talent that chooses to call this place home. (And why wouldn’t you?)
It’s the great rivers of this region that have helped shape the landforms and created the distinctiveness of the area. These rivers provide a constant source of inspiration to the many artists who live and work here.
Thirty-six leading Northern Rivers artists have put their personal creative perspective on this unique environment in an exhibition called Rivers of Life.
With its focus on the environment, the exhibition also plays a critical role in provoking thought and dialogue about current environmental issues and concerns about the environmental future of the region.
Rivers of Life is on at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery (Cherry St, Ballina) and runs till Sunday, February 21. The official launch is this Friday, January 29, at 6pm. The opening will feature a guest performance by local opera singer Katie Rutledge.
