Renee to sing in Bangalow
Renee Geyer (pictured) is a stalwart of the Australian music industry. I guess you could call her a living legend. But she’s more – she keeps her music changing, evolving. She’s not a singer whose career is dependent on yesterday or tomorrow’s hit song, but someone who lives for her next performance, on stage or on record – someone who refuses to rest on her laurels.
Born in 1953, in Melbourne, Renée is one of the very few Australian artists who has had records in the Australian charts every decade since the 70s. During the 80s and 90s Renée spent many years between America and Australia and sang with artists including Sting, Chaka Kan, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Brown and in 2005, Renée was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.
Renee will play the Bangalow Bowling club this Saturday, November 28. She’ll sing songs from her latest album (which she co-produced), Reneessance.
“I’ve avoided doing this album for a long time for the simple reason that I’ve already done these songs,” Renee said. “I finally said yes because we agreed to do it live at my keyboard player’s house - just set up like an acoustic gig and play. People tend to like the intimacy of that. It has a certain energy and I think it works.”
Tickets to the gig are $30 from All Music & Vision stores in Ballina, Byron and Lismore. Or at the door (if any left).
The fun starts at 8pm.
