Raw laughs... again

After the huge success of the first Byron Bay heat of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s RAW Comedy Competition, where 10 local comics took to the stage to vie for a spot in the Queensland semi-finals (yes, we are in Queensland), MC and RAW promoter Mandy Nolan gets ready for the second heat scheduled for next Monday, February 8, at the Byron Services Club.

“I was only going to have one heat, but we got so many registrations that I had to put on another one,” she said. (Said the same thing about her children...)

Judges Ellen Briggs (ex RAW national finalist), Bruce Mackenzie (ABC announcer and ex comic) and Robert Grayson (comedy teacher and performer) concluded that the first heat was the strongest they’d witnessed. And they’re looking forward to seeing the talent the second heat has to offer.

Triple Z announcer Cameron Walker and Alstonville’s Christopher Byrnes tied for first place and will be making their way to Brisbane for the Queensland qualifying heats.

Tickets are $10/15 at the door or they can be booked on 6684 3443.

The laughs start at 8pm.
