Destroying air refreshers in pub tantrum costs man $1000

DISGRUNTLED drinker Karl Edward Park didn't explain what caused his temper tantrum in the mens room at the Queens Hotel.

Whatever it was Park's moody and brutal behaviour directed at two air refreshers in the toilets quickly fouled the air and has cost him $1000.

Police prosecutor Sgt Pepe Gangemi told Gladstone Magistrates Court that Park went into the male toilets at 7.45pm on Saturday, October 10.

While inside he ripped off two wall-mounted air refreshers.

Sgt Gangemi said Park then smashed them on the floor.

Hotel security called police.

Sgt Gangemi said Park refused to give his identification and was arrested.

Park pleaded guilty through a letter to the court to charges of wilful damage and contravening a police direction in licensed premises.

Park's handiwork cost him a $1000 fine.
