Putting marriage to the test

Last Thursday a very colourful village barrow graced the corner of Carrington and Magellan Sts, inviting people to test their knowledge of marriage.

The barrow was organised by a group of locals running the local arm of a national campaign to allow same-sex marriage.

Angela Pollard of the community legal centre said it had been the most successful campaign event she’d ever been involved with.

“We’ve had fantastic interest from the community and even when people have had a different point of view they’ve been respectful and informative,” Angela said.

Angela said they’d had more than 20 people write personal letters to the Prime Minister supporting same-sex marriage and close to 100 people sign the petition and choose to do the quiz.
