Police dogs uncover drugs in Toowoomba CBD

POLICE arrested 17 people after a weekend operation in which drug detection dogs were used.

The operation codenamed North Haze was carried out last weekend in the inner city Safe Night Precinct.

Police targeted revellers carrying or using dangerous drugs and focussed on entries to and people moving in between pubs and clubs.

This expanded to people in vehicles within the area, looking for drugs and drink driving.

The operation involved 44 local police and staff from the Brisbane Dog Squad, including police dogs Turk and Phantom, and officers from the Brisbane Road Side Drug Testing Unit.
