Future Picassos offer their art

This group artwork by students from Wollongbar Preschool is just one of hundreds of student artworks that will be up for auction at a special art exhibition and charity auction this Friday, October 30.

The event is a combined fundraiser for Wollongbar Preschool and Wollongbar Public School, with students getting creative to help raise funds to improve their own school grounds and fund ongoing art projects.

Local artist and art teacher Gretchen Mercer has been working with both schools to produce artworks for the event, and has volunteered her time to ensure every student is represented.

“Altogether there's nine group works from the primary school up for auction, four preschool group works and around 230 other individual works by students,” Gretchen said. “Who knows, you could pick up and artwork by a future Picasso for $5.”

The auction is being held at the Wollongbar Public School Hall. Go along between 5 and 7.30pm for a sausage sizzle, coffee shop, face painting and the auction at 6.30pm. For more information, phone Gretchen on 6628 5923.
