Painkilling rock event

This Saturday, February 11, the Lismore City Bowlo will host the rockin' tunes of three bands.

The Painkillers hail from Perth and features James Baker (who was drum banger for the Hoodoo Gurus). Add to James' rhythmic skill the battered acoustic guitar of Joe Bludge and you have The Painkillers. The duo has played more gigs in Perth than any other act since forming there in 2005. They have released three albums - Drunk on a Train, Love Cancer and Feel the Pain.

The Painkillers won a WAM award for best punk band.

Also playing is Gravel Samwidge, which started in Sydney in 1989. In 1995 the band won Triple J Unearthed leading to a CD release. The band relocated to Brisbane in 2001.

In 2009 they came off a six-year hiatus, regrouping and releasing Nonchalance.

Their sound has been described as outsider rock (whatever that is) and they've developed more experimental leanings in recent years incorporating more electronics into performances.

Lismore band Substation will support.

Tickets are $15/12 from www.eventfinder.com.au or at the door.

Doors open at 7.30pm.
