Opera at The Channon on again
ONLY Opera at The Channon offers you stunning countryside and the company of laid-back locals at an opulent black-tie concert.
For Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter events co-ordinator Andy Stewart it is this uniqueness that makes the event – now in its 13th year – truly special.
“The moment the vocals first resonate through The Channon and awaken the countryside – with a glass of champagne in hand – makes all the organisation worthwhile,” Mr Stewart said.
The proceeds of the event, set for Sunday, July 25, will be split between the helicopter service and Rotary charities.
Opera lovers can choose to dine at the silver service luncheon at the grand marquee, or bring their own picnic hampers and enjoy the lush country setting of Coronation Park.
Deluxe hampers are also available for those picnicking alfresco.
Following lunch, guests are treated to an afternoon of fineopera and musical classics performed by the stars of Queensland’s Young Artist Program.
Early-bird tickets go on sale this Friday.
“Last year the tickets were gone in three days,” Mr Stewart said.
Rotary Lismore Central chairperson, Paul Denmeade, said the last 13 years of Opera at The Channon had raised more than $100,000 for the community.
The opera and luncheon ticket is $135 and the opera-only ticket is $50, or $45 for those who get inearly.
