Opera in the school hall

THE annual Opera at The Channon concert is moving to Woodlawn.

Geoff Cawley from the organising committee said the condition of the ground and the chance of further showers makes Coronation Park at The Channon unsuitable and they would be utilising "the loveliness of St John's College Woodlawn".

The opera has been running for 15 years and the one other time it had to move to Woodlawn saw the biggest crowd ever attracted to the event, with more than 800 people packing in to the assembly hall.

"The dinner will be in the school dining hall and there will still be adequate provision for picnickers, with a covered area if it is wet," Mr Cawley said.

This year the event will feature renowned opera and song company, OPERATIF. Tickets will be available at the door from 11.30am for $60 or through NORPA on 1300 066 772 until Friday afternoon.

The event is organised by local Rotary clubs and is a fundraiser for Our Kids and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
