A MAMMOTH bike ride through Cambodia in the heat of summer may not be thrilling to you but to Vicki Hunter it's exciting.
In June Mrs Hunter, from Summerland Credit Union's Nimbin branch, will ride in the Cambodian Challenge that will see her cycle 300km over five days before visiting schools and educating Cambodian children on the merits of saving and managing money.
Mrs Hunter is fundraising for her place in the Cambodian Challenge Team from Credit Union Foundation Australia (CUFA) and for the Financial Literacy Program she will be part of in Cambodia.
So to prepare and fundraise, tomorrow Mrs Hunter will ride for eight hours in the front window of Summerland's branch in Molesworth St, Lismore, giving the community a chance to come down, find out what the challenge is about and donate.
While there will be a simulator screen set up to give her the feeling of being outdoors on various biking tracks, she said the hardest part of the in-store ride would be the mental side.
However, she can't wait to get on the road in Cambodia in June, she said.
"It's very exciting, I'm quite passionate about it."
