CLARKS shoes were among the most searched-for items, according to Getprice Online Shopping Index.

And after three weeks of sizing up kids' feet for Clarks shoes before the first school term began, CQ Podiatry staff agree.

Podiatrist Allan Harwood was rushed off his feet with parents searching for the popular shoes.

"They are one of the best quality shoes on the market," he said.

"Clarks have been around for generations. They have lots of different sizes."

It has 184 sizes, according to Clarks.

Mr Harwood said the shoes were just as popular at CQ Podiatry last year but they were certainly easier to buy this year, with the shop staying high and dry after being cut off from some people by the 2010/2011 floods.

And Clarks wasn't the only popular back-to-school search for parents getting ready for the new year; calculators also rose in the top 50 searched for items on Getprice.

Searches for Apple products dropped 53%, with a non-Apple product taking out number one searched-for item for the first time since August 2010.

"Technology products such as digital cameras, TVs and mobiles still topped our most-searched list this January, indicating that consumer interest towards these products remains the same."
