Oils is oils is art
Armistead’s Gallery in Wyrallah Rd, Lismore, runs oil painting classes every Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
The results of these classes can be seen at the students’ exhibition of their paintings, The State of the Art, at the gallery.
Opening night is next Thursday, November 12, from 6-8pm. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be provided. (Hope they have Jatz with those little blocks of cheese...)
Gloria Hardwick, Patsy Walsh, Betty Kirkland, Chris Hurwood, Betty Wotherspoon, Denise Hirshausen, Chris Bartholomeuse and Kathleen Armstrong have created works that explore themes such as family, place and objects through portraits, landscapes, still lifes and contemporary works.
It’s a diverse exhibition, but the use of oil paint unites the artists as they discover and explore the wonderful world this medium opens up to them… and to us.
The State of the Art runs until November 30. And there are some places available in the oil painting classes if you wish to immerse yourself in the art and craft of oil painting. Phone 6622 8011 for more info.
