No mix-up - they won!

The National Campus Band Competition is Australia's largest band comp and has launched quite a few bands into the national limelight and popular success - bands like Eskimo Joe, The Vasco Era and Jebediah.

Last week local eight-piece outfit The Downstairs Mix-Up won the national title!

The Downstairs Mix-Up is out of Southern Cross University in Lismore. They have a distinctive sound (and look) that combines blues, R&B, rock and country.

The band received a cheque for $5000 and all the kudos that comes with such a win.

“When you're playing music, trying to get somewhere, it is amazing when you're finally pulled into the spotlight,” frontman Harry Nichols said. “We are proud that our efforts and endless rehearsals have paid off. Now we're straight to the studio to start recording!”

Congratulations.

The Downstairs Mix-up are playing the SCU Unibar tonight (Thursday, October 8).
