SUPPORT for Prime Minister Julia Gillard has jumped 10 percentage points in preferred PM ratings in the Nielsen poll released on Monday by Fairfax Media.

The poll showed a huge rise in support for Ms Gillard, following a speech about sexism and misogyny in the House of Representatives two weeks ago.

It gave Ms Gillard a 10-point lead over Opposition Leader Tony Abbott as preferred PM, putting her at a 50% approval rating with Mr Abbott trailing at 40%.

The poll placed Ms Gillard at her largest lead as preferred PM over Mr Abbott in any Nielsen poll conducted this year.
