Nicole's double act

Two down, many to go – that’s the reality for Peregian Springs girl Nicole Bott after taking back-to-back pageant crowns on the Sunshine Coast.

The blonde beauty took out the local Miss Indy final on Friday night, mere days after winning the Miss Mooloolaba pageant.

The 20-year-old said she was “amazed” by her second win – perhaps because her expectations were low after having just taken the coveted Mooloolaba crown.

“I didn’t expect to win,” Nicole said while she enjoyed a well-earned rest at home yesterday.

“I was so calm because of the Mooloolaba contest,” she said, thinking two in a row would be impossible.

But it wasn’t.

Now she is the recipient of a mass of prizes, including 10 days at the Gold Coast’s Mountain Resort, where she will go into “training” for the Gold Coast Miss Indy contest in October, offering prizes worth up to $100,000.

In the past year Nicole not only secured herself a spot on the Ralph Australian Swimwear Model of the Year 2008 calendar, but also took the title of Miss State of Origin at Zachary’s in Mooloolaba.

This is no small feat for this Noosa Sheraton waitress-by-day, stunner-by-night, as juggling the pressures of work, competitions and relationships can be difficult.

Miss Indy event organiser Richard Hoven said Nicole “deserved her win” at Friday night’s Kings Beach Tavern event, which attracted an audience of more than 1000.

A year of preparation and practice for this event is what Nicole cites as the main reason for her taking the crowns.

“I spent a lot more time getting to know the other contestants this year,” she said.

“I had good fun; talking, mingling and helping the first timers. I was a lot more confident.”

As for yesterday, it was a day for getting her feet back on the ground, and a day at home.

“I’m going to the beach,” Nicole said.

“I haven’t been there for so long.”
