New video of Russian meteorite emerges

A NEW video has appeared online that shows the Russian meteorite from another angle.

The clip, hosted on video sharing site Liveleak, was captured by a dashboard-mounted camera and shows the meteorite coming towards the camera.

Ten seconds later, the impact of the meteorite hitting the earth causes the camera to jolt and dust is seen falling from nearby roofs as a streetlight shakes violently.

The video quickly spread through the internet on sites such as Reddit and Liveleak.

"It's amazing how many breakthroughs have been achieved in the scientific community, yet when it comes to space rocks the size of a bus travelling at over 40,000 miles an hour, we honestly have no chance of stopping them with what's currently available," one commenter on Liveleak wrote.

"Sleep tight everyone, it's a brave new world out there!"
