New college to combine Lismore, Richmond River, Kadina
A NEW secondary college at Lismore will more closely link the Lismore, Richmond River, and Kadina high schools, the NSW Education Department has said.
The department has announced it would soon appoint an executive principal to oversee the establishment and operation of The Rivers Secondary College.
The new college was expected to be up and running from 2015.
Students would be offered a breadth of courses, extra curricula, arts, sporting and cultural opportunities, which would only be possible by integrating resources, programs and management systems, the department said in a statement.
Public Schools NSW, Lismore, director John Lynch said the college would be essential to The Rivers P-12.
He also said the three high schools had already aligned their timetables and partly aligned their curricula.
Mr Lynch said the appointment of an executive principal was "a big step towards an exciting new period for public education in our area".
