ALL Whites skipper Ryan Nelsen has failed to feature for new club Tottenham Hotspur in its nil all draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

Nelsen started on the bench but was not called upon as the London club dropped vital points in its chase of English Premiership leader Manchester City.

Nelsen completed his free transfer from Blackburn to Tottenham last week and manager Harry Redknapp immediately put him into his squad for the Liverpool fixture.

However, Spurs started the match with Ledley King and Michael Dawson at centre-back.

Controversial Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was also on the bench after serving an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Suarez was introduced in the 66th minute, but failed to find the winning goal.

The result leaves Tottenham in third position on the Premiership table, while Liverpool slips to seventh.
