Nature is our greatest asset

The Caldera 09 environment and arts festival was recently held in the Tweed Shire but now moves to other areas in the caldera region.

The Roxy Gallery in Kyogle will host one of the two travelling exhibitions of artworks submitted to the Caldera 09 Arts Award.

This arts award highlights the biodiversity of the region. And despite now being rev-head central, the caldera region's best asset is its natural splendour.

Caldera 09 will be on display at the Roxy Gallery from October 15 to November 15, with the official opening on Friday, October 23, at 6pm. In support of this event the Roxy Gallery will be awarding a People's Choice Art Award of $500 to the artist who receives the most votes from the public for an artwork.

Caldera 09 aims to promote public awareness of regional biodiversity values and landcare initiatives by showcasing the work of artists interpreting the region's natural environment. Sales of original artwork and merchandise will generate revenue for specific landcare and coastcare projects.
