Nathan Peats denies Mitchell Pearce dog tweet
NATHAN Peats has been forced to clear things up after he was unwittingly brought into a gag referencing Mitchell Pearce's 2016 Australia Day antics with a dog.
Pearce was suspended for eight games and fined $125,000 last year for simulating a sex act with a dog in a woman's home after his boozy day out on January 26, and unfortunately for him, it's provided perfect fodder for anyone looking to take a shot at the NSW halfback.
Facebook page NRL Memes uploaded a screen shot on Sunday of what it alleged was a tweet from Peats making fun of Penrith's 38-0 thrashing of the Bulldogs.
"I haven't seen dogs getting pounded that hard since we celebrated the Origin win in Pearcey's hotel room," the screen shot read. It came from a Twitter handle the same as Peats'.
But the Gold Coast hooker, who made his Origin debut for the Blues in last Wednesday's win over Queensland, quickly took to social media to proclaim his innocence.
There is a fake meme going around of me tweeting in regards to mitchell Pearce. It's funny I won't lie but it's not from me. So disregard it

The start of Peats' Twitter bio reads: "Part time comedian full time footy player" but even though he appreciated the humour in the practical joke, he wasn't able to claim credit for it.
