Nathan Friend hopes to overcome injury against Cowboys

VETERAN hooker Nathan Friend is hoping to make his comeback from shoulder surgery against the Cowboys at Mt Smart Stadium today.

It could be a good omen for the winless New Zealand outfit - the 32-year-old scored and his team won 35-18 last time the Warriors played North Queensland last July.

Friend had surgery last August after dislocating his shoulder in round 24 against Penrith.

The Cowboys have had a rushed preparation for this game.

They had back-to-back away games, and left for Auckland a day earlier than usual to acclimatise.
