RYAN Napoleon was no match for the power of China's Sun Yang and Republic of Korea's Taehwan Park in the final of the men's 400 metre freestyle.

Napoleon finished dead last as Asian rivals Yang and Park put on a swimming clinic, with the Chinese swimmer just missing the world record on his way to claiming the gold medal.

A disappointed Napoleon said he 'just didn't hit it' after his qualifying swim left him in a positive mode for the final.

Earlier, Alicia Coutts moved into the final of the women's 100 metre butterfly after finishing second behind race favourite US swimmer Dana Vollmer in the semi-final.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
