Nada Yogi brings Yoga and music to Nimbin

SHIVAM Rath is a Nada Yogi who has combined his yogic lifestyle with his deep devotion to sound and music believing that the universe is comprised of sound itself - the ancient Indian concept known as Nada Brahma.

He has travelled the world sharing his knowledge of Nada Yoga, especially throughout Asia and India. This July Shivam brings his practice and leadership to Nimbin in a one-off concert at the Bush Theatre, followed by a series of workshops there.

The philosophy of Nada Yoga holds that music is sound in motion, energy in motion, our emotional response of any given moment in field of sound.

Shivam specialises in an instrument called chatarangi - an Indian fusion instrument which combines the four tone colours of the more traditional instruments of veena, sarod , sitar and slide guitar.

Together with voice, he will be teaching the instrumental components of Nada Yoga as well as Indian vocal technique.

  1. At the Nimbin Bush Theatre on Sundays, July 17, 24 and 31 from 3.30pm. $20
