Emails to remind Lismore residents to put their bins out

LISMORE City Council starts a new online program today to remind residents of their bin days.

The new service, called "My Bin Day", allows people living in the Lismore local government area (LGA) to access detailed information of the waste collection calendar in their area via the council's website (

"It also allows them to set up a reminder service where they will get an email the day before their bins need to go out," Lismore City Council's waste operations coordinator Kevin Trustum said.

"People can also call the council's contact centre and a printed version of the calendar will be posted to them."

Lismore LGA has a three-bin system: a 140lt waste bin that goes out fortnightly, a 204lt recycling bin also collected fortnightly, and a 240lt organic waste bin managed weekly.

With three bins allocated to 11,000 households in the Lismore LGA, plus two bins for 3000 rural residents, there are just under 40,000 residential waste bins managed every month.
