Man seriously injured in water slide mishap near Toowoomba

A MURPHY'S Creek man was airlifted by the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter with spinal injuries sustained in a Christmas Eve water slide accident.

The man, 20, and a group of friends had made a 15 metre-long makeshift water slide into a creek on a Murphys Creek property.

At about 10.40pm, the man slid down the slide, skimmed across the creek and hit the bank on the other side.

He suffered serious injuries to his spine and was treated at the scene by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics along with the helicopter's flight medical team.

The injured man was later airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a serious condition.

His condition was being assessed and monitored by medical staff at the PA today.
