Mullum’s November magic

The opening night at the Mullum Music Festival on Thursday, November 26 (the festival runs until Sunday, November 29), will give folk a taste of what they can expect during this local musical feast.

Punters will be able to enjoy the talents of Vince Jones, Lucie Thorne & Hamish Stuart, Sal Kimber & The Rollin’ Wheel, M Jack Bee, Ange Takats, Leah Flanagan and Domini Forster.

Anything can, and probably will, happen on opening night at the Mullum Civic Hall. (It is Mullumbimby after all.) There’ll be surprise guests, surprise events and surprised audiences.

And who better to MC the evening, making sure all goes well (or go wild!), than that red-suited, multi-talented master of everything – Joel Salom.

Mullumbimby-based Joel spends much of his year performing overseas as a comedian and circus performer. Starting out in Circus Oz, Joel’s career has never looked back.

“I went to Europe again this year,” he said, “and did six weeks in Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Portugal. It was great. For me, working overseas inspires me to be better and to continue to push myself on a performance level and to be more out there.”

The Mullum Music Festival’s Gala Evening is at the Mullum Civic Hall on Thursday, November 26, at 7.30pm. Tickets are $40/20 from www.mullummusicfestival.com.
