Mr Black Blues trips into town
Mr Black & Blues is the working name of bluesman Michael Pollitt (pictured). From the restless streets of Beale Street, Memphis, to Church Street, Melbourne, Mr Black & Blues has travelled the world shining a light with his soul folk blues. Now for one performance only, he brings his blues to the North Coast to play at the Lennox Point Hotel in Lennox Head this Sunday, January 10.
A freak surfing accident, in which he broke his neck, resulted in him losing the use of his left hand. The doctors doubted he would be able to play guitar again but, through persistence, he slowly recovered and the playing of music greatly assisted in his recuperation.
The name Mr Black & Blues was coined during a night in the studio with some BBC Radio 1 DJ friends, who remarked on hearing of Michael’s amazing brush with death that he was not Mr Blues, but Mr Black & Blues.
The result of his experience and inspiration is his debut album The Morning Light. You can check out his website for more details at www.myspace.com/mrblackandblues.
