Money for music
The Australian Music Prize (The Amp) returns this year to encourage, reward and promote Australian music.
Now in its fifth year, The Amp is calling for all Australian recording artists across every musical genre to submit original album-length works (released in 2009) to go into the running to win the cash prize of $30,000.
(That's a lot of plectrums...)
Last year's winner of the Australian Music Prize was the Eddy Current Suppression Ring, for their album Primary Colours. (Nice name.)
With summer approaching, Eddy Current Suppression Ring will step out for some live action on the Meredith 09 festival stage.
Artists intending to enter should note there is an early bird entry fee of $55 until October 30. After that it's $95. Entries close on November 20 at 5pm. To enter go to www.australianmusicprize.com.au .
