IT was a case of good news, bad news at Sydney FC yesterday.
The good news was that foundation player Terry McFlynn, goalkeeper Ivan Necevski and promising youngster Peter Triantis all signed extended contracts at the club.
The bad news ahead was that newly-signed Socceroo defender Lucas Neill was ruled out of tomorrow's match against Central Coast after tearing a calf muscle at a morning training session.
The match, on Neill's 35th birthday, would have been his first club fixture in Sydney since leaving Australia as a 17-year-old in 1995.
McFlynn's said he thrilled to re-sign until the end of the 2013/14 season, giving him the chance to become the club's first 200-game player.
"I'm excited to be staying at Sydney FC for next season," the 31-year-old said.
"I have always said that I will be at this football club as long as I'm wanted."
Necevski, who joined the club in 2007 and has played 42 A-League games, also agreed to a one-year extension.
Triantis has played 10 games for the Sky Blues this season and re-signed until the end of 2014/15.
