Mills says Spurs can fight back from humiliating loss

AUSTRALIA's Patty Mills believes his San Antonio Spurs can come back from an embarrassing 36-point thrashing to keep alive the NBA's Western Conference Finals against Golden State Warriors.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called out every member of his team, except for forward Jonathon Simmons, for not showing fight in the 136-100 loss on Tuesday in Oakland.

The Warriors lead 2-0 in the best-of-seven series with game three in San Antonio on Saturday.

A defiant Mills told reporters the Spurs were still confident.

"It's a long series,” Mills said. "Now we are going back home and there's still a lot of reasons to believe.

"We are just going to keep pounding on that. There's nothing to lose really.”

Mills had a forgettable game, missing four of his six shots for five points.

Warriors acting head coach Mike Brown said one of the keys to his club's game plan for the series was for their All-Star guard Klay Thompson to hamper Mills.

"You're not going to stop a guy like Patty, especially in offence with the way he moves and all that, but you just want him to try to take as tough shots as you can,” Brown said.
