Melbourne tram and truck collide

MELBOURNE'S City Circle tourist tram has been hit by a truck - the second collision of its kind in three days.

Yarra Trams confirmed the collision occurred about 1pm, at Spencer St and Flinders St, and will affect a number of tram routes.

Ambulance Victoria was not called.

Yarra Trams said passengers and the driver were not injured, but understandably shaken by the incident.

They reminded drivers to look for trams when turning.

On Monday, a truck collided with the route 58 tram in Royal Park.

Passengers on their way to work were thrown off their feet when a truck slammed into the side of a 58 tram in Royal Park at 8am.

The truck carrying soil tipped on its side and the city-bound tram - carrying about 46 passengers - was derailed in the accident.

The truck and tram collided at a road crossing near the Melbourne Zoo earlier this week.
