The Star Court Theatre in Lismore is showing movies. (It was originally a movie theatre.) A lot of these movies are not mainstream and you may not see them elsewhere.
One such movie is Melancholia showing tonight (Thursday, January 19) at 7pm; and this Friday, January 20, at 7pm.
This movie is about - wait for it - the end of the world. This is a brave topic but director Lars von Trier tackles it with some high-tech effects and the acting talents of Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten is getting married but disaster is approaching. No, not married life, but a planet on a collison coarse with Earth.
Entry is $13/11/9. (And check out Salon Verdi at the theatre where you can have a wee tipple before the show.)
Also screening at the Star Court Theatre is an Italian double from director Gianni di Gregorio this Sunday, January 22 - Mid-August Lunch (4.20pm) and Salt of Life (6pm). There'll be a 20 minute interval between the films and you get both films for the price of one ($13/11/9).
With canapés and wine on sale it'll be great afternoon and evening of Italian humour.
