Meet the bugler who will play The Last Post at Anzac Cove

ARMY musician Andrew Barnett's first Gallipoli visit has given him new perspective on an iconic bugle call he has played countless times.

Corporal Barnett will play The Last Post at the Anzac Cove dawn service and Lone Pine Australian service on Saturday.

It will be his first public performance of the tune after his first visit of the peninsula battlefields with which it is synonymous.

A New Zealand counterpart will play Reveille at the dawn service while Cpl Barnett will also play The Rouse at the Australian service.

"I've actually been in the army for some 20 years now and as part of being a trumpet player you are also a bugler so we do a lot of these calls for various events such as this," Cpl Barnett said.

He played at the Villiers Bretonneux dawn service for the 90th anniversary commemorations of fighting on The Western Front.

"That was another amazing occasion to be a part of; very, very significant."

But he expected seeing the cliffs the soldiers faced first hand would add even more to his performance.

"We actually were led through right from where they landed right up to here (Lone Pine).

"I've obviously read a lot but being here is something very special and I think it will add to the call."
