DAVE Styles remains in the Royal Brisbane Hospital two weeks after he was mauled by the tiger he had trained since a cub at Australia Zoo.

Charlie, the tiger responsible for the incident, is also continuing to be "cared for as per normal" with the other 11 tigers at the Beerwah zoo.

Charlie is not yet back in the tiger show. However, this is expected to happen soon.

"He was being playful. He didn't realise what he was doing," an Australia Zoo spokeswoman said.

Mr Styles' family has asked his privacy be respected during this time.

Australia Zoo thanked everyone "for their ongoing support and prayers for Dave and his family".
