Massive Tasmanian bushfires finally put out

TWO massive bushfires that destroyed more than 100 homes in Tasmania were finally put out by authorities.

The first fire, which started in Forcett in early January, tore through Dunalley, Boomer Bay and Murdunna, destroying 100 homes and forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents.

A second fire, which started near Lake Repulse in the Upper Derwent Valley weeks ago, was also put out on the weekend.
