Martin the man for Saints says expert
ST KILDA should focus its energy on recruiting Dustin Martin at the end of the season as opposed to reigning Brownlow Medal winner Nat Fyfe, according to list expert Terry Wallace.
The Saints have made no secret of their desire to secure a blue chip midfielder at season's end and have once again been strongly linked with a move for Fyfe throughout the week.
The Dockers captain is a free agent at the conclusion of the year and would undoubtedly have Victorian suitors should he seek to explore his options.
But Wallace believes Martin is a better fit for Alan Richardson's side and believes the club should target the Richmond gun ahead of both Fyfe and GWS Giants youngster Josh Kelly.
"I'd go Dustin Martin," Wallace told SEN Radio.
"I think he's a little bit of inside and outside.
"If you're going Josh Kelly, you've got to understand that you're going to be selling the farm financially, but you're also going to be committing everything from the point of view of getting the trade done. The other two guys are restricted free agents.
"With the Kelly one, if it's not two first-round picks, it's going to be a first-round pick and something substantial because GWS is in the whip hand.
"I think (Martin) uses the ball better than Nat Fyfe and when I look at him I think he suits St Kilda better because he's still got breakaway.
"I think of Jack Steven at that club (St Kilda) - this is a Jack Steven that's a bull, rather than the outside wing flair of a Josh Kelly."
