Marsh jets in as Watson forced out with injury

SHUAN Marsh is flying out to South Africa as cover for the injured Shane Watson but it is still uncertain whether the stylish left-hander will be called into the team for the first Test in Centurion, starting Wednesday.

Watson was withdrawn from the squad with a calf injury, the same problem that originally forced Marsh (pictured) out of the tour.

The West Australian proved his fitness with a starring role in the Perth Scorchers' Big Bash League win on Friday night but it would appear Alex Doolan is still favourite to take the No.3 spot vacated by Watson and make his Test debut.

The loss of the first-choice all-rounder would tend to suggest Moises Henriques would come into the team.

But with the rain increasing the chances of a seamer-friendly wicket in Centurion, selectors could also opt for four pacemen and an extra batter with spinner Nathan Lyon making way.
