HOORAY!: Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell gives three cheers for the Lismore car Boot Market’s 25th birthday last Sunday, January 20.

"SUPPORTING people in their own community is at the heart of any market, and it has been for centuries," Lismore Car Boot market founder, Marny Bonner told The Echo this week. The market celebrated its 25th birthday on Sunday.

"As well as being the place to sell your stuff, it's always been a forum to meet, exchange news and be entertained," Marny said.

"This market has also been a small-business incubator for home-based industries, and now we have a second gener- ation of marketeers, who grew up with the Car Boot market as part of their background."
