Mariners deny club will move to North Sydney

THE Central Coast Mariners are not planning to move to North Sydney despite running up losses of more than $1million a year at Gosford.

Club officials yesterday denied media reports of a potential relocation, but acknowledged the losses were unsustainable.

"The club's owners - including majority shareholder Michael Charlesworth - have injected over $15million into the club, as well as the club's Tuggerah-based centre of excellence over the past year, and, as such, the Central Coast will remain the home of the A-League champions," a club statement said. "Mr Charlesworth is investing in the centre of excellence with the aim of the Central Coast being home to the premier sports training facility in the country."

The Mariners will play the Phoenix at North Sydney Oval on December 19, a move designed to engage with the club's fans who live in Sydney's northern suburbs.
