Marine Park plan popular

THE plan to create a national network of marine parks was the most popular Federal Government decision since Julia Gillard became Prime Minister, polling revealed on Thursday.

Poll data over 105 weeks showed the marine parks plan was more popular than the live cattle export ban, the Gonski Review, aged care reform and increased compulsory superannuation contributions.

Weekly polling by Essential Research showed 70% of voters surveyed supported the marine parks plan, with 13% disapproving.

The same data on the live cattle export ban showed only 58% of those polled supported the ban, with 18% opposing while 68% supported the Gonski schools reform proposals with 13% disapproving.
