Aurora Jane will play the Nimbin pub this Saturday.

Nimbin Hotel will get in on the MardiGrass action with plenty of music over the weekend.

This Friday, April 30, local outfit Mr Speaker will provide some soulful grooves with plenty of backbeat from 7.30pm.

Then on Saturday afternoon, May 1, at 1.30pm, Aurora Jane and her band will hit the stage. With Aurora Jane on vocals and electric guitar the band will play songs from their latest CD Deep End which has been two years (and three continents) in the making.

That night (Saturday) at 7.30pm, Tijuana Cartel will take the pub hostage with their multi-layered grooves, splashes of Middle Eastern vocals, flamenco and slide guitar, and live Latin/Cuban percussion. The Blue Skillet Rovers will play this Sunday, May 2, from 1.30pm. This six-piece banjo-led group plays jugblues, jazzblues, ragblues, soulblues, bluesblues and sillyblues.

And to finish the MardiGrass pub-vibe weekend, the Durga Babies will play this Sunday night from 6pm. The Durgas are a retro pop/surf band who carved out a big name for themselves on the North Coast a few years ago. They’re big on tasty harmonies, wild acoustic and electric guitars, and a thumping rhythm section. Get ready to dance.

So there ya go. Pop into the alcohol venue sometime during your MardiGrass experience and feel the groove.
