Man steals truck, drives over ute at worksite: police
A MAN who police said rammed a Nexus work ute in a bid in a stolen dump truck to flee the Toowoomba Range worksite has been denied his bid for freedom.
Police will allege Jamie Thomas Lamberton-Kay entered the worksite on Thursday morning and stole a dump truck when he was spotted by another employee who followed behind in a ute.
The employee tried to corner the heavy vehicle and stop it from leaving the site, when Lamberton-Kay, 24, turned the truck around towards the smaller ute.
Police will claim he then drove over the top of the ute moments after the employee leapt to safety from the vehicle.
The incident was caught on dashcam footage which was seized by police as part of investigations.
Lamberton-Kay appeared in custody in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday.
He was charged with nine offences including two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected, and driving without a licence disqualified by a court order.
Being subject to an existing parole, his application for bail was refused and he was remanded in custody.
Acting Magistrate Maryanne May adjourned the matter to the same court to next month.
