Man in jail after double murder

A MAN is behind bars as police continue to piece together the bizarre events which led to the murder of a mother and father in front of their two young children on the NSW Central Coast.

Ten crime scenes have been set up around the Wyong area where a 25-year-old man allegedly went on a violent rampage which ended in the stabbing deaths of a 55-year-old man and 45-year-old woman on Friday night.

Police believe the same man could be responsible for carjacking and attempted stabbing in one suburb, a series of crashes and an assault of two men in a takeaway store and the theft of a car before the double murder.

He was found in an industrial estate, allegedly armed with a knife, soon after paramedics were called to the murdered couple's home.

The Herald Sun reported neighbours were alerted something when a young girl ran down the street screaming someone "killed mummy and daddy".

The couple's names have not been released but it's believed they were known to the man.

At the time of going to press the man had been charge with two counts of murder and investigations into the other offences were continuing.

He was refused bail and will front court Tuesday morning.
