Man held by police after gun drama at The Hermitage

WARWICK police attended an incident at The Hermitage yesterday afternoon after being called to a dispute.

It was initially believed that a firearm was involved and being used in a threatening manner but this remains unconfirmed.

Police were called to the property on Mays Lane off the Warwick-Yangan Rd around 3pm.

A number of officers wearing body armour and four police vehicles attended.

It is understood the dispute may have been in relation to a defective item which was delivered to the property, with the property owner allegedly having refused to let the staff members who transported the item leave.

It is understood the police were called by the staff member's manager.

A 43-year-old man was taken into custody for questioning in relation to the matter.

A police spokesman said investigations were continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident, but did confirm a firearm was removed.

In other police news a further five vehicles were broken into over the weekend around Warwick.

Motorists have been warned by the police to ensure their vehicles are secured, preferably in a lockable garage or shed.

Report any suspicious activity to the Warwick police on 4660 4444.
